New for 2006… A lighter, more powerful and sonically better Quest amplifier
The new Quest QA3004
The original Quest QA3000 was the first moderate cost, high-powered amplifier that satisfied the needs of pro-end users who didn't have the budget for the top of the market products. The QA3000 didn't noticeably degrade the sonic performance of high-end speakers and with features such as double-sided plated through circuit boards, high-quality fans and ridiculous over-engineering (try picking one up), their reliability in harsh nightclub environments was legendary. They were also a big export item for Quest and can be found from Norway to Fiji.
Regular Quest customers made comments such as, "Great! But can you make it lighter? Give it more power? What about two-rack space? Maybe an assortment of filter settings for simple x-over applications? How about better limiters? Or can we get quick-change filters? etc., etc., etc.
Well Quest took that onboard and more.
Australia's EnTech 2006 saw the unveiling of the new Quest QA3004, and it is pretty impressive. The new Quest QA3004 features centrally located status indicators and controls.
It has all of the above, Lighter, more power, pretty LEDs, great limiters and protection, lots of switches on the back etc., but the most amazing thing about this new amp can only be appreciated when you connect it to really concert quality speakers. That is, the sound.
This amplifier sounds sonically stunning. You can line this amplifier up against any good brand's best products and it will not be left behind in a wake of THD. And like all Quest products, the price/performance ratio can not be beaten.
The new Quest QA3004 also features high- and low-pass filters on both channels. High and low pass filters removes the need for electronic cross-overs in many situations. Gain sensitivity selection is complimented with a very effective high speed switch-able limiter.
The QA3004 is being produced at the new high-tech Quest electronic manufacturing facility and will soon be joined by three extra models. What ever your power needs, there will be a QA series for you.
The 2006 model Quest QSA200i
Following from the success of the QSA200, the new model retains all the benefits of the old model with a number of improvements.
New styling and a component revision sees more output and more flexibility from the new QSA 200i.
The new QSA200i is the first of a new range of powered speakers to emerge from the new Quest factory and it's a real indicator of things to come. It's not just a restyling job, a newly developed top-end driver and an improved power amplifier, as well as multiple inputs, gives the new QSA200i more versatility. Also there are the addition of the integral stand fittings and extra rigging points. Power is a conservative 150 watts RMS and separate microphone and line level inputs make this box even better for rental and installation applications.
A very smart looking protective transit cover, which can be left on the box during operation, makes this quite a unique and functional package. It certainly has a lot to live up to. A famous Australian audio industry magazine reviewed the old model, placing it up there with competitors twice the price, so the new QSA200i will certainly be the one to beat, if you're looking for a micro-powered package that fills a silence hole without making too much of a hole in your bank account.

Where are the Boxes?
Sound by Quest MW In-Wall Speakers
Out of sight is not out of mind with the new Quest MW range of in-wall speakers. You can't see a speaker box but there's full bandwidth hi-fi sound. That must be an Architect's dream as far as a designing a venue or media space is concerned. Quest has done it again with another pro-standard bang-for-buck sound solution. The new MW series of in-wall/ceiling speakers are multi-way, compact, medium-powered speakers that take the good old ceiling speaker to a new level of power handling and quality.
The MW series In-Wall Speakers generate great sound with lots of power and output, and best of all are easy to install. Most small in-wall speakers are just car radio (or worse) bits, in a plastic holder with little or no design - and they sound like it too, with poor sensitivity and low power handling. Quest has moved the goal posts again with a design that caters for all parts of the design and installation chain.
Out of the box, into the wall and connect the wires to the easy access gold-plated, pro-size terminals, that's how easy it is to install the new MW Series In-Wall Loudspeakers. Focusable high-frequency transducers and high-low balance control ensure spacious imaging with amazing clarity and well-balanced sound in any listening position, not just a small "hot spot."

The top-end transducer can be directed to give coverage where it's needed. An extremely handy feature when speakers have to be mounted near walls or in aesthetic friendly locations. Note the HF boost/attenuation.
Additionally, paint them to match your décor and they practically disappear, leaving you with nothing but high-performance sound! Installation is easy as 1-2-3: cut one hole, feed the wires, and simply drop the speaker in. Rotating Cams secure the speaker safely with no extra assembly or mess.
A well-designed crossover optimizes the performance of the MW series. A beefy bass driver handles plenty of power and top-end protection is insurance against over enthusiastic DJs. Aluminum front grill and water-resistant components show their worth when it comes to unfriendly environments. The polymer surround bass driver is similar to the Quest MS series, which has a proven track record around the hazardous environs of bar/nightclub and outdoor music installation.
Two models in an 8 or 6 inch format supported by a slim-line, in-wall sub-bass make this range a really clever package for everything from home 5.1 to bars and shopping centers requiring full-range, highly intelligible audio. A circular dual concentric model will also be available. Keep an eye on this one; it will be another ceiling shaker (as opposed to ground breaker). |
